The approach itself is the first attraction
The walk to the cafe is half the experience. Going step by step up a small path of dense greenery, there are stretches where the only sounds are rustling leaves and birdsong — I genuinely thought “if Totoro was sitting further in, it wouldn’t feel out of place.” Depending on the angle of dappled sunlight, the “movie scene” feeling intensifies. Every time I visit, I’m quietly surprised that this kind of quiet space still exists this close to a residential area.
A tiny cafe packed with charming details
Open the door and you step into a warm space crammed with handmade-looking knickknacks and plants. Few seats, so whichever one you pick, your eye will land on somebody’s handcraft somewhere. The interior differs from seat to seat, which naturally makes you think “I’ll try another seat next time.”
Ajillo + toast — the set isn’t done until you wipe the sauce
For lunch I ordered the ajillo and toast. Fresh vegetables and seafood in garlic-forward olive oil — appetite switched on immediately. The toast that comes with it is crisp outside, fluffy inside, and wiping up the remaining sauce with the bread is basically part of the course. Looks vibrant and delicate, but the finish leaves you genuinely full.
Creamy beef stroganoff
Another worth-ordering dish is the beef stroganoff, served simply on a white plate. Tender beef stewed into submission, coated in a rich, layered sauce — the spoon keeps moving.
The rice is cooked at a firmness level that absorbs sauce without losing its own core. One plate of this alone makes for a solid lunch.
Picking cake from the display case
Dessert is picking from a showcase out front. Seasonal offerings alongside regulars, and figuring out “which one today” takes a few quiet minutes. The cafe’s vibe encourages you to enjoy even that indecision as part of the visit.
The chosen cake shows up subtly pretty, and the flavor is gentle; paired with a drink, time visibly slows down. The kind of closing that leaves you feeling you “spent the cafe time right.”
